Follow 04:23
The past is a foreign land so this was far away When we two met by accident and jumped into the fray He expected to meet someone else and so in fact did I It was years ago December and the snow was falling down We laughed and fell together and made angels on the ground Who needs to take vacation when you’ve got the warmth of two And soon the rest would follow Like a downhill racing sled It might have been predicted Where this cold snowfall led It was closer to a blizzard than I ever thought I’d see We took forever vows among our friends and family We left together for a honeymoon in sunny climes And soon the rest would follow Like a downhill racing sled It might have been predicted Where this cold snowfall led It was snowing hard again on another winter day I asked him where he’ d been and he didn’t want to say His body was still here but his eyes were far away And soon the rest would follow Like a downhill racing sled It might have been predicted Where this cold snowfall led The year turns round the snow returns over and again And soon the rest will follow And soon the rest will follow And soon the rest will follow

I would do whatever it would take me to pay penance for my sins even if accusations break me on my way to breaking in Give me just one chance to understand it as you watch me spin out of control so alone, I must be branded help me, bring me back my soul Ch: This was not what I expected when we bought our tickets to the show Don’t throw them away Don’t throw them away Maybe there’s an encore to make it better Maybe there’s a sequel to this play Don’t throw me away Don’t throw me away vs 3 Waiting for the closing of the season trying to find some cover from the rain but the forecast gives no reason the clouds will ever change And now the curtain call is over There’s no delaying this I fear It just takes one to end this story without even a souvenir Bridge I’d beg forgiveness if I knew what I had done But maybe I should be forgiving you

Chance 04:19
You never know which dreams will stick around In the attic of your mind But sometimes second chances catch you by surprise when you’d become resigned I would have thought it was impossible Expecting anything at all But the impossible can sometimes turn to real Unexpectedly you fall Chorus: In the story of my life I expect no certainty If you told me I would laugh and disbelieve that we could be A second chance for better memories I never know which dreams will stick around Always far back in my mind I was a doubter, never thought my dream was true I left that skeptic heart behind Chorus A second chance is hard to find Chorus

The second time you broke my heart It wasn’t cause you left me It was because I saw your pain And tears and agony If only I could make it go - Aaah But I can’t and we both know That it can only get better if we both hold on With all the strength we have And it’s going to get harder before we get away Every day going by only serves to mark the time from the second broken heart Funny how you find that love can break you more than anger I always thought it made you feel As if the world is yours If only I could make it go — Aaah But I can’t and we both know That it can only get better if we both hold on With all the strength we have And it’s going to get harder before we get away Every day going by only serves to mark the time from the second broken heart All is not lost, you know you still Have me and I still have you and Next to each other, we’re still strong

I’m dreaming of a Christmas that isn’t gray But I’m not getting that today All the presents beneath the tree Don’t mean that much to me Cause you’re not here Cause you’re not here You’re invited and the door is open wide With food and songs and merriment inside But i'm missing what would make this Christmas Mean much more to me Cause you’re not here Cause you’re not here All the family and friends a girl could want All the joy of a festive Christmas Eve Wishing for a Christmas miracle To knock on my front door "Merry Christmas, darling, it’s me” Instrumental verse Repeat bridge Repeat first verse Cause you’re not here Cause you’re not here

You = Spring 05:05
It’s dark but I can’t see it Winter but I can’t feel it ‘Cause you’re better than the sun No cold is gonna reach me Not when I’ve you to teach me We two are more than 1 + 1 I feel a springtime and it’s coming from the heart With you any time of year is fine So warm your affection Now it’s the right direction For me — I don’t doubt anymore You say we’re gonna make it This time I believe it’s True — I don’t doubt anymore Faith and forgiveness of the past Makes me sure it’s going to last Even when we make mistakes I trust the smile in your eyes ‘Cause you’ve made me realize You and me are what it takes I feel a springtime and it’s coming from the heart With you any time of year is fine So warm your affection Now it’s the right direction For me — I don’t doubt anymore You say we’re gonna make it This time I believe it’s True — I don’t doubt anymore repeat to end

about

This album consists of a bunch of rough demos recorded for the NaSoAlMo (National Solo Album Month) project in November 2015. All songs (except for one cover) had to be written and recorded during the month of November. As such, these demos are not glossy and polished, and many mistakes were left in. Some of these songs may grow to be something better, and some never will. Please enjoy these in the spirit of creativity and taking a chance.

Facebook comments about Learning Not To Be Perfect:

"That album rips yer heart out and sticks it on a novelty plastic cocktail sword. And it even has a Christmas single, like an early 80s New Wave band... add ten layers of psychedelia on top of 'Follow' and it would fit on side 2 of Dear 23."

"Catchy little tunes."
